2008 Summer Intern Projects
Learn more about pollution prevention and energy efficiency solutions from students participating in the 2008 Minnesota Technical Assistance Program (MnTAP) intern program. Presentations will held on August 25, 2008 from 1-4 p.m. in the Ski-U-Mah Room, McNamara Alumni Center at the University of Minnesota. For more information, click here.
Students have been working at the following companies:
- Atritech, Inc. (Medical device manufacturer): develop new packaging concept to reduce packaging waste.
- Granite Falls Energy, LLC (Ethanol plant): conduct energy efficiency analysis of various parts of the plant.
- Hitchcock Industries (Metal casting facility): determine feasibility of using a fluidized bed system and replacing sulfur hexafluoride.
- Minnesota Energy (Ethanol plant): evaluate water saving opportunities for ethanol production.
- Twin City Die Casting (Metal casting facility): reduce energy use in facility.
- St. Luke's Hospital (Health care facility): minimize hazardous materials by incorporating environmentally preferable purchasing protocols.
- Metropolitan Council (wastewater treatment facility): determine the efficiency of the current blower operation and how that operation could be improved with different controls or strategies.
